The IJ denied asylum, withholding, and CAT protection to a Honduran child who experienced persecution. In Honduras the child was repeatedly robbed and beaten by gangs attempting to recruit him. The child's attorney reported that the IJ considered the child's political opinion and particular social group claims.

The asylum office granted asylum to a gay man who experienced sexual abuse when he was growing up because of his sexual orientation. He feared reporting to the police because he is gay. He was not able to talk about the abuse that happened to him he decided to apply for asylum.

The asylum office granted asylum to a Guatemalan woman who married her husband when she was 15 because her mother could no longer care for her. The AO granted asylum to an Iranian woman who experienced domestic violence and forced marriage. She wanted a divorce but her husband refused, and she feared future persecution because Iranian law would allow her husband to take away her rights if she were to return. The AO granted asylum based on the PSG of "women who are unable to leave their marriage in Iran."
