A San Francisco Asylum Office granted asylum to a Fula woman from Gambia who was subjected to FGC twice, once when she was 15 and later when she entered into an arranged marriage. She opposed FGC for her daughters but her older daughter was forced to undergo it by her in-laws. She fled to the United States to protect her younger daughter.

A Virginia Asylum Office granted asylum to a Salvadoran minor who had experienced severe physical and emotional abuse by her guardians.

Case #16713 Mexico Domestic violence - Child abuse, Gang-related violence

The asylum office granted asylum to a Mexican male unaccompanied minor who fled domestic abuse at the hands of his aunts and uncles as well as gang violence. The applicant's cousin, a gang member, threatened him and tried to force him to commit crimes. According to the applicant's attorney, the applicant proposed a social group of "children in Mexico without parental protection."

A San Francisco Immigration Judge granted asylum to a bank manager from El Salvador. Each month, the MS-13 gang extorted the woman for over half of her salary. The gang also threatened her verbally, with death notes, and at gun point.
