CGRS’s Technical Assistance (TA) program is designed to provide attorneys working on individual asylum cases with immediate access to comprehensive, tailored resources relevant to their case. Each case registered with CGRS has an individualized TA Library, which contains litigation support resources, including practice advisories, country conditions research reports, expert declarations, sample case documents, and unpublished Immigration Judge and Board of Immigration Appeals decisions. This guide provides attorneys with instructions on how to access materials for both new and previously-submitted cases.
How to Access the TA Library for a New Asylum Case
1. Log in to your CGRS account. If you do not have a CGRS account, please create one here.
2. Once logged in, navigate to the case intake form, which can be found in the Access Technical Assistance box on the left side.
3. Fill out the case intake form with all relevant information about your case. Your tailored TA Library will be generated based on the information provided on this form; so please carefully read each question and provide all relevant information to maximize the amount of relevant resources you will receive. Please note that you will not be able to make changes to your case once you have submitted this form. If you need to make revisions, please contact us at CGRS-TA@uchastings.edu with your CGRS case number in the subject line, and let us know what you would like to change.
4. Click “Submit” at the bottom of the page. Once you have submitted the intake form, a five-digit CGRS case number will be generated, and you will be redirected to an individualized resource library. You can find your case number at the top of the resource library or on your My Account page.
5. When first entering the library, all relevant matched resources are displayed in reverse chronological order. To narrow resources, use the filters sidebar on the left side. You can choose to view resources relevant to certain parts of your client’s case or certain types of documents, such as practice advisories or unpublished decisions. Check off all relevant filters, then click “Apply Filters” at the bottom.
6. To clear filters, uncheck all boxes and click “Apply Filters” again.
7. To view more information about each resource, click “Read More”. Additionally, to view recorded trainings, click “Read More”, then scroll down to the bottom of the page to view a video of the training.

How to Share a TA Library with Another User
If multiple advocates are working on a case and want to access the TA Library for that case, please do not submit separate case intakes. Instead, the user who registered the case with CGRS may share the case with other team members (e.g., law clinic students, pro bono mentors. or others at their organization). To share a case:
1. Open the case record by clicking on the case number on your My Account page.
2. Click on the tab labeled "Share Case" at the top of the case record.
3. Enter the email(s) of other team members working on the case. Please note that all team members must have a CGRS account before the case is shared. If one of the emails is not associated with a pre-existing CGRS account, you will see an error message. Please instruct the team member to create an account. Once the account is created, you will be able to share the case.
4. If you would like to remove a user from a shared case, please email us at CGRS-TA@uchastings.edu to request removal.
How to Access a Shared TA Library
1. Once a case is shared with you, you may access the case record and tailored TA Library from your My Account page.
2. Click on "Cases Shared with You" or scroll to the bottom of the page to see what cases have been shared.
3. You can then click on the case number to view more information about it, or click on View TA Library for this Case to access resources.
4. If you would like to be removed from a shared case, please email CGRS-TA@uchastings.edu to request removal.
