Case Summary

A New York Asylum Office granted asylum to a Pakistani woman, who is from a traditional Muslim family. While she was is the United States. looking for a potential H-1 visa sponsor, she got pregnant by a married man and gave birth. She fears that as an adulteress and a single mother, she will be persecuted upon return to Pakistan. She has not yet told her family about her child and fears that if she tells them she may become victim to an honor killing.
