Case Summary

Guatemalan woman who survived childhood sexual abuse from her step-father and domestic violence from her husband.  She lived in the US with her abusive spouse, who continued to abuse her in the US.  After she reported the abuse to the police, her husband was deported to Guatemala. Her husband blames her for his deportation and abuses their children in Guatemala to get back her.  He has threatened to kill her if she returns to Guatemala.  She filed for asylum more than 7 years after coming to the US, and was able to overcome the one-year bar arguing changed and extraordinary circumstances.
