CGRS Advisory Board member Tanya Broder with former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder, this year’s recipient of Western Center’s Earl Johnson Equal Justice Award

November 7, 2017 - We are proud to share that CGRS Advisory Board member Tanya Broder was selected to receive Western Center on Law & Poverty’s prestigious Advocates’ Award this year. The Advocates’ Award is given to honor and celebrate career long commitment and success in the provision of legal services to lower income persons and disadvantaged communities.

Tanya specializes in the laws and policies affecting access to health care, public benefits, and education for low-income immigrants across the United States. She holds a J.D. from Yale Law School and is a Senior Staff Attorney at the National Immigration Law Center, where she writes articles and policy analyses, provides technical assistance, co-counsels on litigation, and presents trainings to legal and social service providers, government agencies, legislative staff, and community-based organizations. Tanya’s depth of knowledge and humility was summed up by Dick Rothschild of the Western Center who said: “I would say that Tanya has forgotten more about immigrants’ rights to public benefits than the rest of us will ever know, except I don’t think she has forgotten any of it. And she shares that knowledge and her wisdom with unassuming grace.” We are honored to have Tanya as a colleague and Board member.

Congratulations Tanya!
